"The Night Circus" {by Erin Morgenstern} Book Club Ideas

"The Night Circus"
By: Erin Morgenstern
"The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. "

Welcome, to Les Cirque des Rêves

The "Wishing Tree"
Don't forget to light your own candle and make a wish...
I could see Celia wearing this.
Inside our "tent" waiting to discuss The Night Circus!

The "Ice Garden"

THE FOOD!!

We went with a B&W food theme with shocks of red here and there. We had gourmet hot dogs as the main course paired with all the delicious treats and appetizers you saw above!
Bethany & Libby

THE GROUP:
Everyone wore B&W with red accents to continue the MAGICAL feel of the evening

THE DISCUSSION:
Kitch was our moderator for this magnificent book and I know how much put time and energy she put into making this one of our most memorable book clubs to date!
*Bethany also did a LOT to help Kitch and I want to thank BOTH of them for all they did!

A few of the things we discussed were:
1. The author. We learned about Erin Morgenstern and where her inspiration for the book came from.
(Mostly from the "Sleep No More" by Punchdrunk Theater Company production.")
2. We discussed the non linear writing style.
3. The characters, their development and who are favorites were.
4. We talked about the many symbols and themes throughout the book such as Trees, time, color and opposites.
Lisa, Shalease and I were the big quiz winners this month!
Each winner received a notebook with a drawing of the wishing tree on the front, a copy of the night circus soundtrack and a box of delightful and tasty chocolate mice!
The delightful chocolate mice!
Here is the cover I made for the Night Circus soundtrack.
As we were leaving, we each received our own bag of oh so yummy caramel corn with a special ticket that entitles the holder unlimited admission to Le Cirque des Reves.

Any Author searching would be amazed at how much effort you and all the talented ladies expend each month to highlight their books. Thanks to Kelly, Kitch, & Bethany for bringing us "The Night Circus" experience and to everyone else who contributes each month to make our book club extra special!
