You know that first book that impacted you? Sometimes it happens when a parent reads you a bedtime story. Other times it's when a book series jumps out at you and finally gets you to read! For me, it happened in Mrs. Deerfield's 5th grade classroom. That year Mrs. Deerfield read aloud many chapter books including Where the Red Fern Grows and Bridge to Terabithia (it was the first time I'd seen a teacher cry in class). I adored those books, but the book that made everyone in our class laugh had to be The BFG by Roald Dahl!
When I heard that The BFG was being made into a movie (coming out July 1, 2016), I remembered reading about whizzpopping (Farts. Yes, I said farts) and frobscottle (like soda pop) and I knew I had to see this movie!
If you haven't read a Roald Dahl book, you are missing out. I love how the children are almost always the heroes and how the fantastical seems like everyday life. To celebrate the release of the movie and to honor the great Roald Dahl, we thought it would be fun to create a challenge: how many Roald Dahl books have you read and how many more can you read before the end of the summer?!?
I created this fun custom bookmark so you can check off the books you've read. That way you don't get all muggled and jumbly, as the BFG would say.
