Fifty Shades of Grey {Book to Movie}

To See or Not To See...That is the question.
This book came out and had so much controversy surrounding it. Will the movie be the same way?

I know a couple of people who said they were embarrassed to be saying that they were reading the books and even going as far as hiding that they were reading it. Lol. One of my friends saw a lady reading it on the airplane and read a little of it over her shoulder. She thought it looked like a good book and so she bought it so she could finish reading it without knowing what it was really about. When she got to a part with sex in it she was shocked but admitted that she had to find out what happened and ended up reading it. Well when she told the story it was pretty funny. I personally haven't read it. So I can't say I recommend it or not. But there are plenty of fans out there or else they wouldn't have thought it would be a good movie.

This movie comes out February 13th Valentine's Weekend. It is rated R (for obvious reasons) and barely missed being rated NC-17. Here is the parental guide but I'm guessing it will be for you and not if you want to take your kids to it. hahah.

The rating controversy From an article on Eonline:
The Fifty Shades of Grey movie is the subject of a new controversy.
After the highly anticipated flick managed to dodge an NC-17 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America last week, Morality in Media, an American anti-pornography organization, is criticizing Fifty Shades' "R" rating and specifically calling out the MPAA's wording around the movie's "unusual behavior" in terms of the sex scenes.
"What the term ‘unusual' does not account for is the coercion, sexual violence, female inequality, and BDSM themes from which the entire Fifty Shades plot is based," Morality in Media said in a statement. "Such a vague evaluation puts viewers at risk, sending the message that humiliation is pleasurable and that torture should be sexually gratifying."

Book Synopsis

(Photo)
When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.
Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Movie Synopsis
Literature student Anastasia Steele's life changes forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian Grey.

Jamie Dornan {Christian Grey}
Jamie is from Ireland and played Count Axel Fersen in  Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst.  He was also in the movie Shadows in the Sun and also on the TV show Once Upon a Time playing the dashing Sheriff Graham. His up coming projects include: The Untitled John Wells Project and The 9th Life of Louis Drax. I guess we will have to see how he does in this movie and see if it lands him anymore roles. He is pictured in the bottom right with his wife Amelia Warner.

Dakota Johnson {Anastasia Steele}
You may not know this but Dakota is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. She is also a model as well as an actor. She has been in the movies: 21 Jump Street , Beastly , The Social Network and Need for Speed. Her up coming projects are: Chloe and Theo , Black Mass (another book to movie coming out this year) and A Bigger Splash. It looks like she's been one busy girl. And it looks like she is taken for the moment dating musician Matthew Hitt (lead vocals in the band Drowners) sorry all you single guys.

Director Sam Taylor-Johnson
I am surprised they chose a relatively unknown director. She is most known for Nowhere Boy and has directed mostly short films. She doesn't have any upcoming projects as of now. She is pictured here with her husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson who is 23 years her younger and they have two kids together. Wow.

Author EL James
From her own words: I’m a former TV executive, wife and mother-of-two based in the leafy suburbs of West London. Since January 2012 my life has taken an extraordinary turn with the runaway success of the Fifty Shades Trilogy. From an early age I had always dreamt of writing stories that readers would fall in love with – and my dreams have come true, thanks to you guys. Now that life seems to have settled down a little, I want to crack on and write my next novel – another adult, provocative romance. I do hope you will enjoy that too.
The Fifty Shades of Grey books are the only books she has written thus far.

I guess we will have to wait and see how this movie is received by the public. Will people admit they actually went or try to hide it if they did or will people boycott it?

I saw it and I loved it. The book was poorly written and somewhat silly at times but the movie is well done. My biggest worry was that it would be gross or stupid. It was neither. It was tastefully filmed and more sensual that I expected. Even Matt thought it fine.
