"Ready Player One" Book Club Ideas Part 1

We finally read the highly rated book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and I am so glad we did. This book was published in 2011 and I don't know why I didn't hear of it back then but now I recommend it to anyone who asks for a book suggestion. This was such a fun book and having grown up in the eighties I truly appreciated all the 80's references.
In the book Percival (the main character) went to a world where there was an exact replica of Happy Time Pizza, a favorite pizza joint with arcade games that James Halliday (the super smart gazillionaire who died and set up a treasure hunt to win all his money) went to as a kid. So what a perfect idea for the food for book club. I decided to have build your own pizzas. I provided the dough and had it ready to go for when people started to show up.

{Drinks}
This Luscious Slush Drink is the perfect summer drink and it's so good.

{Sides & Salads}

Summer salads are so refreshing and a must for an outdoor gathering. I asked for two people to bring their favorite summer salad.

Then I had people sign up to bring all sorts of toppings for the pizzas.

{Main Dish}
I decided to have chicken drumsticks to go along with the pizzas just in case some one didn't want pizza. I learned last year the best way to grill chicken drumsticks. The key is to brine the chicken before you grill it.

I provided the dough that I got from my local bakery.

{Desserts}
How can we not have Capn' Crunch Cereal on the menu. So instead of eating it traditionally with milk I thought it would be fun to have it as a topping on ice cream and Hostess Cupcakes.

Aren't these fun! In the book there is a treasure hunt and there are three keys they must find. These sugar cookies represent the three different keys and we had to have some Pac Man cookies too.

Let's Eat!

Thank you to everyone who brought something and for coming to book club.

Check back later this month for Part 2

  1. Everything that the hero needs to occur, happens fine and Write My Paper For Me everything works out in light of the fact that he is the divinely selected individual of some rich geek's reality. It's the most noticeably awful sort of wish satisfaction.
